Bike Safety
Today I'm doing a post on the MOST important things to know when you're riding your bike.
Bikes are to have fun. Am I right? Anyway, you wouldn't have fun if you were in the hospital because you got hit by a car. So I'm going to show you some important things to know while riding your bike on the street to make getting hit by a car A LOT less likely!

How do you think you are supposed to turn right and left? That might sound like a really dumb question but it's not! You might be thinking you turn right and left by steering to the right or left.:) But it's not that simple! I mean, yes that is included but there are some steps you have to know before you start doing that! The steps are just simple hand movements. You do these hand movements with your left hand. So let's start with turning right and left...

These are the hand movements you have to do before you turn either left or right.

Let's move on...
You don't just have to know right and left. There are a few others you have to know too.
You'll need to know how to say "I'm starting to speed up", or "I'm starting to slow down", or "I'm stopping."
You say all these with a hand movement just like you do with  saying you're turning to the right or left.
Here's how you do it:
You can click these pictures to enlarge them.
So those are the basics you need to know to ride your bike out on the street.

You also need to know some other stuff! If you are a kid and a grown up that you don't know is asking you to help them with something. Just don't do it! Even if they offer a piece of your favorite candy. Or if they say they will give you something if you help them. Or something like that. Just ignore them and walk the other direction. They might look really nice. And it might seem like they really will give you something in return. But for your safety don't do it! Also, your parents should ALWAYS know where you are when you are riding your bike. They should also know what time you'll be back. And if they tell you that you can't go somewhere don't go to that place. Parents have a reason for where you can and can't go. And from my experience they are ALWAYS right. So listen to what they say. And you will earn trust to go to more places.

I never knew that there were hand signals for slowing down and speeding up. I wonder, especially, why we need one for speeding up. It's interesting. You're a good teacher, Coco!

Well, I guess just to make sure that they know what your doing? Ex: If someone sees that you're going slow and want to go to lane you in in front of you, and they see that you're going to speed up then they might think
about what you're going to do next more. And of course there is a posibility that they will see you better if you're not just moving the same direction as they are you are also moving you arm.?

Those are some great tips. I think they are important things everyone should learn.
