The Giant Elephant Shrew!!
These guys are really cute! I posted a link to video at the end of this write up!
So let me tell you about the Giant Elephant Shrew!
They weigh about 1-7 ounces threw out their life.
Diet- They eat insects consisting of: Ants, beetles, termites, e.t.c.
They also eat fruit, roots form plants and plants themselves! :)
So you could also say that they eat what an anteater eats!:)

Unlike most shrew the elephant shrew is active during the daytime.

Okay... This is really strange!
The elephant shrew mates with one and only one shrew! All the dad does is scare away male trespassers and mate with the female. And of course wonder around. The female on the other hand raises the kids, feeds them, licks them clean, makes the nest, they scare away female trespassers, and keeps the babies entertained. That's a big job for the mom.

There are 15 different types of shrews! And most all of them are threatened! So what threatens them?
Snakes, birds, and other big animal. But you can't forget the biggest threat to them! Their own kind! They are constantly killing one another because one trespassed. They have to watch out and not pass onto another shrew's land! This of course makes it hard to find a mate and that is another reason they are threatened.

The Giant Elephant Shrew is not actually related to the shrew!
It's more related to the elephant, or the golden mole, and sea cows.

Unlike us, shrews use there nose for their eyes! They are constantly sniffing the ground to get around!

Their life is about 3-5 years.

Oh and how can I forget they use their long legs to run up to 8 mph!! That's crazy!!
I hope you enjoyed reading this!!

That's a great drawing of a shrew and a very interesting post. I like how you write. It's like you're just telling us about the things, and that's a good way for us to learn.
