Sumatran Orangutan
Latin name- Pongo Abelii
Facts:
They live only in Indonesia and Malaysia. They live on the islands Borneo and Sumatra.
What does Orangutan mean?
It means person of the forest. 96.8% of their DNA is also our DNA! No wonder they look so much like us!:D Jk
Although they do share some of the traits that we have: Their hands are gripping hands like ours. That means that they have five fingers. And that they are used for picking things up and carrying things. They also stand on 2 feet just like us.
Are Orangutans monkeys?
No they are Apes. So... What is the difference??
Well Monkeys have tails and Apes don't. That is the main thing. They are also a lot bigger than Monkeys!
A male Ape is bigger than a female Ape. They also weigh A LOT more than female Apes! Males weigh about 120 kg (264.5 pounds!)

This is a really great drawing with a lot of personality. But if you think about it, we really do look a lot like orangutans. We certainly look more like orangutans than we do turtles, for instance, or tigers or birds or lizards or mice!
Ha ha! Yeah we sure don't look like turtles!:D At lease...
I hope not... Let me go check......:D!!
